CytoSorb in the International Journal of Intensive Care; $CTSO

CytoSorbentsCytoSorbents Corporation (OTCBB: CTSO) is a critical care-focused therapeutic device company using blood purification to treat life-threatening illnesses. Its purification technology is based on biocompatible, highly porous polymer beads that can actively remove toxic substances from blood and other bodily fluids by pore capture and adsorption.

CytoSorbents' flagship product, CytoSorb, was mentioned in the "Product News" section of International Journal of Intensive Care, Winter 2011 edition. The relevant section can be found on page 34 of the SlideShare document below (page 122 in the actual journal).

CytoSorb was described as follows:

"CytoSorb, from CytoSorbents, is a new therapy approved as an extracorporeal cytokine filter. It is based on a highly biocompatible, porous polymer bead that can capture and absorb cytokines in the -10-50 kDa sweet spot where cytokines reside. The therapy is flexible as it is compatible with standard haemodialysis machines. It also aims to reduce cytokines and mitigate cytokine storm that is associated with multiple organ failure and death in critical care illness. In a randomised, controlled clinical trial, treatment led to a statistically significant 30-50% reduction in key cytokines and an improvement in 28-day mortality in a subgroup of patients with very high cytokine levels."
